Cecil Kim has had a distinguished career in the video game industry, where he has excelled as a concept artist and art director.
After graduating from Art Center College of Design in 1996, Cecil began his professional journey at SquareUSA, contributing to Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy IX.
His expertise then led him to Sony Santa Monica Studio, where he worked on Twisted Metal Black and the acclaimed God of War series, from the original through
God of War III. His work on God of War III earned him the BAFTA award for Best Artistic Achievement in 2011.
In 2011, Cecil founded Section Studios, which launched Rival Crimson X Chaos in 2016. Currently, he serves as the studio art director at thatgamecompany, working on
Sky: Children of the Light and their upcoming IP.
Alongside his industry work, Cecil has been teaching since 2002 and is now a professor in the Entertainment Design program at ArtCenter College of Design.
He is also a prominent speaker at major game conventions like Chinajoy and GDC, where he shares his insights and experiences with the global gaming community.
