Before we knew, Mabinogi has become one of the game IP that represents Nexon. During the past 14 years, many Milesians have visited, and it is another world where the journey of Milesians still continues. Now, we can enjoy Mabinogi not only on PC, but also start a new journey through the mobile. G-STAR Nexon booth disclosed publicly Mabinogi Mobile, which is one of the titles that many Milesians looked forward to.

The contents demonstrated at G-STAR version were similar to when Milesian first finished meeting with General Manager Na and arrived at Tirco Nale. You are asked a favor from the village head, having a conversation with Malcom, and then you make a thick thread with the wool from a sheep. In the process, you also meet and talk with different NPCs, including the teacher of magic school Rasa, and the fencing master Raynald. Personally, I was most impressed with the egg witch Endelyon, and it was too bad I couldn't meet her.​

I was able to briefly experience the combat system too. It seemed like the combat was simplified a lot to suit the mobile environment. Mabinogi's unique combat balance of rock-paper-scissors was optimized as touch interface to change the fighting style. The skills used were to simply get the timing right, or using the magic with long casting. Most of the combat skills are found in the existing Mabinogi game, but there is a little change made to suit the mobile environment. 

Mabinogi Mobile has made many changes to suit the mobile environment. The interaction key was automatically changed to combat interface or scissoring or spinning buttons, and the inventories were greatly simplified. There were automatic moving button and the quest took place automatically. The chatting interface where you can chat and send messages to other players are displayed at the bottom. Additionally, it became easier to change from the landscape view to the portrait view so that you can play on either screen. 

Mabinogi Mobile is the change that pursue sophistication suited to the era and platform. These kind of change might be a disappointment to the existing fans, but Mabinogi Mobile has done its best to maintain its unique identity.

You can also see changes in the bodies according to the age of the characters. Mabinogi's unique sound effects and exaggerated knockdown motions, as well as the characteristics of NPCs from the PC version could still be found, with Milesians without jobs can become an all-round character like before. According to the disclosed contents, it is expected that the change of body types will be applied according to the food consumed.

When I asked about the demonstration to people around me, the first thing that I remember was "It's just Mabinogi". At least the game was made with the understanding about what Milesians experienced and what impressed them. Despite the changes made to suit the mobile environment, there were many elements that stirred memories of Milesians once more. 

After listening to Mabinogi's representative song 'Old Legends that Grandmother Told When I was a Child' on the opening screen, seeing the Morrigan stone statue in front of the dungeon, and hearing the lute played by Rhona when the Milesians gathered together around the campfire after the demonstration ended, it all boiled down to one thing that it was Mabinogi! The distant memories of fantasy life. 

The Mabinogi Mobile being developed is expected to contain new contents for mobile with G1 and rescuing goddess. I hope there is no one day restriction to quest in this game.

Mabinogi has become one of Nexon's oldest service games. Since its been in service for over 14 years, I am curious as to what kind of memories Milesians will make from Mabinogi Mobile. During the long fourteen years of service, many Milesians have come and gone from Erin. Their memories have all been different. 

Some might have had a fun time digging out trees and fruits and chatting around the campfire, others might remember fighting against the grizzly bears, and also those who excitedly captured the brown tailed mongoose. There might be those who remember digging out the elf and then returning it back. I also remember the Milesians who waited for two hours to not get caught by General Manager Na and went into the dungeon.

Over more than ten years, many users have had their own memories spent with the game and the developers of Mabinogi Mobile probably worried a lot about what kind of memories to offer through the new game. Personally, I was really satisfied. The demonstration version of Mabinogi Mobile captured many Milesians' memories to be played on our smart phones.
